STEAM

Our STEAM sessions give our young people an opportunity to take an interdisciplinary approach to problem solving, discovering and developing the links between science, technology, engineering, maths, and this term, introducing art.

Our young people are set practical challenges during the sessions using varied construction materials, problem solving and creative thinking skills. We encourage an engineering approach and often use teamwork in order to complete challenges.

Our activities have included various structures which bear weight, 3D model making, construction and design of functional objects, maquette making, animation,  forces, balance and movement.

We find that the young people engage really well with these activities and enjoy the practical approach to the sessions.  We often incorporate working with others to build positive relationships and watch our young people grow in confidence.

We hope that STEAM will help our young people to understand the importance of these skills and knowledge in all walks of life as well as modern careers.
