Outdoor Education
Giving our learners access to the natural environment is very important to us and hence we are passionate about our outdoor education!
Over the academic year, there are opportunities to take part in growing plants from seeds and learning how to grow and cultivate fruit and vegetables for sustainable living.
Our learners also have the opportunity to create wormeries, bird feeders, wind catchers and much more using recyclable materials as part of our focus on recycling and reusing, all whilst learning about mini-beasts, birds and garden life.
Our sessions also look at our natural world, discussing topical subjects including Rainforests, The Ocean, Space, Deforestation and Climate Change.
There are many benefits to outdoor learning. As well as increasing fresh air and physical activity, the sessions encourage social interaction; development of communication skills; reflective thinking, problem-solving and building resilience as well as the opportunity to relax. All of these aspects help to increase self-confidence and self-esteem.
With learning about our immediate outdoor space and our natural world around us, we are hopeful that we nurture a lifelong love of the outdoors for our learners.
